THE NEW GOSPEL

What would Jesus preach in the 21st century? Who would his disciples be? With The New Gospel, Milo Rau is staging a “Revolt of Dignity”. Led by political activist Yvan Sagnet, the movement is fighting for the rights of migrants who came to Europe across the Mediterranean to be enslaved on the tomato fields in southern Italy and to live in ghettos under inhumane conditions. The director and his team return to the origins of the gospel and stage it as a passion play of an entire civilization.

Cosa predicherebbe Gesù nel 21° secolo? Chi sarebbero i suoi discepoli? Con The New Gospel, Milo Rau mette in scena una "Rivolta della dignità". Guidato dall'attivista politico Yvan Sagnet, il movimento si batte per i diritti dei migranti che sono arrivati in Europa attraverso il Mediterraneo per essere schiavizzati nei campi di pomodori del sud Italia e per vivere nei ghetti in condizioni disumane. Il regista e il suo team tornano alle origini del vangelo e lo mettono in scena come un gioco di passione di un'intera civiltà.
